About The Club
Twice a month on Thursdays, we gather with a different extraordinary host to listen together and to explore sublime music. From personal playlists to influential pieces and all-time favorites, each artist curates a deep listening experience that brings us inside the music.
For the summer months, we will be joined once a month by star musicologist Kai Christiansen to explore and unpack a different musical topic.

For the third and final installment of our summer series with Kai Christiansen, we’ll look at how a musical work tells a story. Just like in a novel or movie, music has themes, motives, even characters. And much like literature or film, music tells a story, often a dramatic one. Join us as we explore the vivid aspects of musical storytelling with a deep dive into carefully chosen examples from one of the greatest musical dramatists of all time: Beethoven. We'll listen, break it down, and then put it all back together with a newfound understanding of what made Beethoven one of the greatest storytellers of all time.

Gabriella Smith
Join us for a special Sunday brunch edition of the Noe Music Listening Club featuring Bay Area native, Gabriella Smith. She is one of the most sought-after composers of her generation and has won international acclaim for her infectiously energetic, imaginative, and all around cool works of music. Gabriella will join us from Marseille, France, to explore several of her chamber works including those inspired by the natural beauty of Northern California. Croissant and café au lait are not required but strongly encouraged!
